Kumbia Boruka is a multicultural band based in Lyon, France with eight musicians from Mexico, Chile, Argentina and France. The band's roots lie in the city of Monterrey, in the north of Mexico, where cumbia is the anthem of the neighbourhood and where the legend of Mexican cumbia, Celso Piña, was born. Hernán Cortés, leader of Kumbia Boruka, learned to play the accordion from this great master and accompanied him on long international tours.

 

The music of the band reflects the sound of Mexican streets: classic cumbia mixed with influences of reggae, dub and tropical music - psychedelic electric guitar melodies, an extensive rhythm section including guacharaca and congas, powerful and exciting brass arrangements and last but not least the brilliant sound of the accordion. That´s Kumbia Boruka!

 

The result is a new cumbia, hybrid and full of power, intense tropical sounds with a fierce energy that embraces the rhythms of Latin America.

 

After the success of their two albums "La Vida se Vive" and "El Remedio" as well as more than 400 concerts in many parts of the European continent during almost ten years of experience, Kumbia Boruka will release their third album called "Santa Suerte" in November 2023.

Kumbia Boruka es una banda multicultural de ocho músicos provenientes de México, Chile, Argentina y Francia, lugar donde residen actualmente. Las raíces de la banda se encuentran en la ciudad de Monterrey, en el norte de México, en donde la cumbia es el himno del barrio y surgió la leyenda de la cumbia mexicana Celso Piña. Con este gran maestro Hernán Cortés, líder de Kumbia Boruka, aprendió a tocar el acordeón y lo acompañó durante largas giras internacionales como percusionista.

 

La música de la banda refleja el sonido de las calles mexicanas: cumbia clásica mezclada con influencias de reggae, dub y ritmos tropicales. Melodías psicodélicas de guitarra eléctrica, una extensa sección rítmica que incluye guacharaca y congas, potentes y emocionantes arreglos de vientos y el brillante sonido del acordeón. ¡Eso es Kumbia Boruka!

 

El resultado es una nueva cumbia, híbrida y llena de fuerza, sonidos tropicales intensos con una feroz energía que engloba los ritmos de América Latina.

 

Después del éxito de sus dos discos "La Vida se Vive" y "El Remedio" así como más de 400 conciertos en gran parte del continente europeo a lo largo de casi diez años de trayectoria, Kumbia Boruka estrenará su tercer álbum titulado "Santa Suerte" en Noviembre  del año 2023.
